Did you know, a helmet can reduce the risk of a serious head injury by 66% to 88%.  Big Lakes County understands the many social and health benefits that sports and recreational activities can have on children. Which is why we are pleased to announce the new Bike Helmet Safety Rewards Program.  This program was developed to increase helmet use among children and bring awareness to helmet safety in Big Lakes County.

Beginning Monday, April 15, 2019, if the County Bylaw Officer, Animal Control Officer, and/or Peace Officers spot a child wearing a helmet while riding a bike, the child will be given a coupon for one free ice cream or slushy. The coupons can be redeemed at any of the following locations: Korner Kitchen, Superette, Jerry’s Store, Bigway Foods, Ferguson’s Market, Bay Shore Resorts, Faust General Store, and O’s Treats.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Bylaw Officer at 780-523-5955.
