Changes to Council Meetings

Moving forward, while we are in a state of public health emergency as declared by the Province of Alberta, Big Lakes County Council meetings will be conducted only by electronic means through the ZOOM platform, which will also be streamed.

County Administration is currently exploring alternative ways for members of the public to address Council through electronic communication during Council meetings. Until a long-term process has been tested and established for the duration of the public health emergency, here is how we will allow for the public to address Council at the meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.

Members of the public who wish to address Council on a specific item on the May 13, 2020 agenda must send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. In the email, please indicate your desire to speak and include the title of the item on the agenda that you wish to address. All requests must be received at that email address by 10:00 a.m. on May 13, 2020.

Upon receipt of your email, no later than 10:00 a.m. on May 13th, you will be sent a calendar invite for 11:45 a.m. on May 13th, which is when you will be able to address Council.

If you still desire to speak at that time, you must "Accept" the invite and then join the meeting via ZOOM at 11:45 a.m.

The meeting administrator will mute your computer microphone until it is your turn to speak, at which time it will be turned on so that Council members and anyone else viewing the meeting by ZOOM or watching it streamed will be able to hear what you say.

Speakers will only be invited to speak during the Public Forum time on the agenda, not at the beginning or the end of the meeting.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding as we do our best to ensure that the conduct of Council and Council Committee meetings is impacted as little as possible by the COVID-19 situation.
