    COVID-19 Information Update - October 16 As of October 15, the City of Grande Prairie and Smoky Lake County are classified as “Watch” in the North Zone, as defined on Alberta Health’s COVID-19 interactive relaunch status map.     FCSS will begin taking applications for the Christmas Angels program beginning October 1st. Applicants who may need a little help this year can book an appointment with the FCSS worker to complete the application.   • Disaster Recovery Program Approval

    The County has been approved for a Disaster Recovery Program for the spring flooding. Even if you completed the Early Damage Assessment Form, you must apply to the DRP program to be considered for funding of uninsurable loss and damage as a direct result of the spring flooding.      The Utility Department will be flushing water lines in all the water co-ops the week of October 26, 2020. Customers may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water.     Big Lakes County has made the difficult decision to permanently close the Enilda Transfer Station effective January 1, 2021. The County is committed to working diligently to identify cost savings while keeping our residents' needs in mind.
