Planning & Development is a diverse department here at Big Lakes County. It combines many different sectors and professions to improve our communities and to help build a better future.
Patricia Olansky directs the Planning & Development team that includes our Development Officer, Amanda Backs; our Bylaw Enforcement Officer, Judson Mayes; our Animal Care & Control Officer, Mary Dusseault; our Executive Assistant, Sylvia Jezewski; and our Family and Community Services team led by Louise Myre.
Together we strive to make a difference in our communities today and tomorrow.
Please note, all safety codes permits (building, electrical, gas, plumbing, private sewage) are issued on the County's behalf through Superior Safety Codes.
Big Lakes County and the Town of High Prairie have initiated a project to under take the development of an Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP). This process provides an opportunity for collaboration on matters important to both the County and Town including service provision, land use, environmental protection, and future development patterns.
The objectives of the IDP are:
- Comply with all IDP requirements;
- Engage with community members and stakeholders in all parts of the project;
- Identify options for service provision between the County and Town; and
- Identify future land uses for the IDP area and establish regulations for intermunicipal referrals.
