Big Lakes County’s Operating Grant program is available for eligible community organizations to assist with offsetting annual operating expenses. To be eligible, community organizations must be a registered society in good standing and must offer community services and programming in the areas of:

  • Community Hall/Facility
  • Recreation/Cultural Programming
  • Museum/Heritage
  • Seniors Programming
  • Cemetery/Facility

Council Policy ADMIN-55 Grant Funding Policy governs this program.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Community organizations who are a registered society within the province of Alberta
  • Community organizations who have charitable status with the government of Canada
  • A complete application form (link below)
  • Current Financial Statements, signed by two executed officers that have been approved by your organization at it’s AGM
  • Most recent proof of filing
  • Annual General Meeting minutes, from the year you’re applying
  • Signed grant agreement (in the application form)
  • Current years association budget

Big Lakes County uses a guideline to distribute funds based on the following priorities

  • Maintenance of existing facilities
  • Existing programming
  • Intent to access matching grants
  • New programming

Funds cannot be used for expenses related to:

  • Start-up costs
  • Endowment funds
  • Field trips for entertainment
  • Land and facility purchase
  • Vehicles
  • Individual Sponsorships, prizes, gratuities, gifts, and awards

  • Late applications will not be accepted
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding
  • No retroactive payments will be made
